Specializations: Advanced Labeling of FDA Regulated Foods Seminar
Bring your food labeling skills to the next level!
This advanced FDA food labeling seminar has been updated to include FDA's new labeling regulations for nutrition facts panels. Requirements for food additives, GRAS substances, label claims, and front-of-package symbols are also covered.
Although the FDA has extended the compliance deadline for the new regulations, we are encouraging food manufacturers to continue to move forward with nutrition facts label formatting changes. Gathering information for the new nutrients in the panel is taking companies a lot longer than anticipated. Also, some companies are finding that their products no longer meet the printed label claims and are having to reformulate. Don't get caught in the chaos as the new compliance date grows closer!
Two labeling workshop sessions allow you to test your skills in determining whether certain label claims can be made, evaluating legal acceptability of currently marketed food product label claims, and determining how to bring faulty labels into compliance. Get ahead by having your nutrition updated while your competition rushes to meet the deadline!
Who will benefit from this FDA Food Labeling seminar?
This course is ideal for people who have worked with regulatory demands and in product labeling for a number of years and have a good grasp on basic labeling requirements. For instance if we mention the nutrient content claim of “low fat” in a presentation, we would expect someone to have a basic understanding of the definition of “low fat”. It's the perfect next step for anyone who has taken AIB's Foundations: Labeling of FDA Regulated Foods seminar.
After this seminar you’ll know how to:
- Distinguish between various substances, additives, and ingredients
- Explain the regulatory approval process for each class of ingredients
- Assess claim compliance on food packaging
- Use raw data to determine whether specific claims may be made
Upon successful completion of this course you will receive 1.1 IACET continuing education units.
