One-on-One with David Fliss

What defining moments helped shaped your career path and had the most impact on making you who you are today?
I started working in a retail bakery in Queens, NY at the age of 14. I learned from a young age that to get where you want in life, you must set goals and stick to them. At 20 years old I started a company call Bagel World and Deli. I opened two of my own stores and sold the franchise rights to 23 more throughout central Florida. This experience prepared me for executive management.

How do you describe your leadership style?
As a leader, I promote entrepreneurship and self-management. I’ve never been a micromanager, instead I give my team the authority to make decisions now and ask for forgiveness later. I am a team supporter and like to promote from within and develop people who can also continue to grow and climb the corporate ladder.
